Well Here They Are!

Okay, here they are. These are the signs I worked on last weekend and this weekend past. Again I am having a little bit of trouble selecting colors for my signs but as time goes on, the choices I am making are getting a little better.

I made these signs just for fun. I get such pleasure out of stenciling. It is actually very therapeutic to be perfectly honest with you. Plus it keeps me out of the fridge on the weekends! That is a huge plus.

Again sorry for the picture quality. That's another thing I need to work on.

I'm not to big on this blue color of this Gameboard but at least it makes the words and squares show up pretty good on the dark background.

These signs fit my taste perfectly. I love sheep and coffee. I think they represent both pretty good.

Another favorite of mine are crows. I liked this one so much I had to do two of them at one time. Its funny how the different colors can make them look so different. The Dry Goods sign is just simple enough to suite my taste as well. Its is actually navy blue and not so much the royal blue it looks here in this picture.

The Tic Tac Toe Gameboard is one of my favorites. Again, I love the darker colors so much better on the boards. The 2nd game board is my very least favorite. I think the colors look like throw up. I can say that, I made it!

The Farm Fresh Milk is another one I really like. I stenciled it on a cutting board I traded for a while back. Olde Homestead makes for a nice shelf sitter. It is the perfect size.

These next two signs are pretty basic but I think I like them a lot. You can't really see the worn spots I sanded on them but you can when looking at them in real life. It ages them just right. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them and it does help to see the distressing.

I'm not sure I like the white background in the Red Star Flour board. I might have to try it again in a darker color. Come Gather At Our Table is one of my favorite sayings for a kitchen.

Well that's all I have for now. I hope to get more finished this weekend. In case anyone is interested in where I buy my stencils from, I highly recommend www.folkartfromtheharbor.com and www.homesteadstencilco.com. They both offer
quality stencils at a very affordable price.

Blessings to everyone reading this.
Hugs,
AMY

  10. Oh my Amy, you have been one busy girl :)
    Now that's alot of signs!

Do you put stain over the signs once you are done? Just wondering because when you think the color may be too bright or something if you don't use stain, this will change the look of your sign ALOT!

I had some things made once and started regretting my purchases but once I added stain over the paint, I fell back in love with my pieces. I love using Early American made by minwax.

Just a thought for you if your are not doing this extra step. But your work is just beautiful!!!

  11. I do use stain on my signs Sandy and Minwax Dark Walnut is my favorite but sometimes it makes the paint colors I use too dark looking even after I wipe it off. I've tried Oak and American something or other and they don't want to seem to color anything. Maybe I should add a touch of my Walnut to their can and see if they darken up just a bit. I'll try that tonight I think.
