Snow, Snow, Snow and Some Makeovers

Boy did it get ugly in Lisbon, Ohio this weekend. When I left work on Friday around 5:00, the snow had just started falling. By morning this is what we had in our yard. This first picture is coming up our drive.

This is the front yard.

Another view coming up to the porch.

Here is what the deck looks like.

This is looking out the patio door to the deck.

And the deck again. I'm not so sure we will ever get all the snow off the deck anytime soon.

You can see our Schnoodle trying to decide where she might head to go to the bathroom without getting lost in the snow.

Do you think we will ever get the camper dug out?

I am definitely not a snow lover so I am not happy with all this fluffy white stuff. It took my husband almost 8 hours to clear out our drive and dig out the front walk. I'm so glad he didn't ask me for help! My daughter measured the snow in the front yard and we had 23 inches. WOW!!!

Since I was all warm and cozy inside, I found a few GW goodies that needed a good make over. I have been looking for a wooden breadbox forever and finally I found one. It isn't exactly like I wanted but it will do for now. It has a little girl and some ducks on the front so I am looking for any ideas anyone has to put on the front of my box to try and cover them up.

BEFORE...AFTER......

As I have said in the past, I love anything with drawers or cubbies. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with this little cubbie so for now it is just hanging in my kitchen. Any ideas what to add to it or should I just leave it empty?

BEFORE......
AFTER.....

Well ladies and gents that's all I have for now. I hope to have more to post about this week but sometimes life gets in the way of my blogging. I hate when that happens. I hear we are to get another 4-6 inches of snow on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed that we don't. My daughters school has already canceled for tomorrow due to the inability of in town kids that walk being able to use the sidewalks. I'm sure some of the secondary roads are still a little messy too.

I hope everyone is staying warm and safe.

Blessings to all,
AMY

  1. Amy,
You sure got more snow than we did here in my part of Ohio. We got about 10 to 12 inches...was hard to measure because of the blowing. They are saying we might get 7 inches more on Tuesday into Wednesday. I'm so ready for Spring!!

  2. Wow! I can't imagine having to deal with so much snow! I'm with you - Not so fond of it and we only get 1" at most.
Loved seeing your makeovers and be sure and show us what you do with the cubby shelf!
    Best wishes

  3. I love the snow if I'm inside! We were hoping for some of that storm so that there would be good riding for the snowmobilers (husband and sons in law), but we got just a few flakes. I'm glad you didn't have plans to travel over the weekend.

The do-overs are all so nice. I never see good stuff like that at our junk shops.

  4. Wow that's a lot of snow!!! We are supposed to get more tonight into tomorrow...I know that I am sick of the white stuff & spring can get here now!!!
I love your breadbox...maybe you could put a label of the girl & ducks. That cubby is awesome! You could tuck some fabric into one of the cubby holes & maybe a grubby candle or some stubby grubbies in another...oh so many possibilities! Can't wait to see what you decide to put in it. Have a great day!

  6. I love your makeovers! The breadbox turned out great :) I like the cubby how you have it looks really nice! We are getting some snow in Oklahoma today - 2 to 6 inches we'll see..

  7. That sure is a lot of snow! We got a dusting from that storm, and they are saying 4-5 inches with the next storm coming. YUCK!!! Not a fan of the snow myself.

Love your makeovers! I think a label over the girl/ducks would look neat, like someone suggested. Could you print out something, age it and Modge Podge it to the front?

Love the cubby too. I'm sure you'll find something to tuck in those cubbies, or leave it as you have it...that looks great too.
    Have a great day.

  8. I agree...what a mess! I live between Lisbon and Salem, and we got 20 inches here. Didn't get plowed out until yesterday afternoon. I heard Tina the weather lady say that predicting 6-8 inches was playing it safe, and that we could actually end up with a few more inches than that depending on if the storm slides more south.
Love the breadbox. You could either print off a label to place over the carvings, or you could use woodfiller to fill it in if you wanted to keep the front plain. You would have to sand, paint, sand, and age it again, but it would work.
And I LOVE that cubby! I would have died if I saw that sitting on the shelf! I think some folded flat quarters stacked up would look great in a spot or two, a few rag balls, some grubby candles, little pinkeep pillow...just about anything would look great in there!

  10. I was going to suggest a label like a few others did as well. And that cubby ohhhhh my I loveeeee it !!! I'm sure you'll find the perfect things to tuck in there. Wow you really got the snow there ! They are calling for 4 to 8 inches here tonight and of course I go back to work tomm =( Can't wait to see what you come up with.

  11. Amy, Do I even dare say how beautiful the snow is? Up here in NW Ohio we only got a little on Friday night, we missed all the inches everyone else got. I like the makeovers - they look great. ~Ann

  12. Oh my goodness, Amy, that's alot of snow! I can see why you don't like the snow! I've never been around that much snow. The most I've ever been around was one time in Indiana...there was about 14" and I rode a snowmobile. I wouldn't like having to dig our way out....or should I say wouldn't like for Jason to have to dig us out! lol!

Love your bread box makeover and the cubbie box too! A label is the first thing I thought of too for the bread box. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know! I hope to find a good break box like yours to makeover. I keep looking at GW, but so far nothing. But one day...it will be my time to find one!
